Marrakech is a dynamic international city with a Medyna (old city center surrounded by fortifications) and new bussiness and leisure quarters around. There are numerous hotel and restaurant in all price ranges where you can eat everything from typical Moroccan meals to Japanese sushis. There are manu thins to do in Marrakech, from cultural visists to clubbing all night long. Here are some suggestions: - The Jemaa el Fna square, to drink a orange juice in the morning or at dusk to see the animation - The Medina souks: just get lost in it and be tempted by traditonal Moroccan handicrafts (and pratice bargaining, the national sport) - The Jardin Majorelle, an artistic landscape garden - The Medersa Ben Youssef (former coranic school), for its architecture - The Palais Bahia, for its calm and andalous architecture (we will visit it together) - The old and huge Koutoubia most, a must see (you will not miss it) - The Saadian tombs, for a piece of history - The Dar Sidi Saïd museum, a bit difficult to find but deserve the visit - The Menara garden, near the airport
There are many place to eat in Marrakech but you have to test the Jemaa el Fna square for dinner. A simple rule: just go where there's a lot of local Marrakeschi (Marrakech inhabitants) and don't eat meals with minced meat. Soups are usually a very good choice but there's plenty of strange meals to test. Cheap and clean. - Café de la poste: expensive piano-bar for a cosy evening. - Café Arabe in the medina, for a cosy aperitif or a confortable and good dinner.
